Echoic is an art rock project of Finnish musician Otto Nuoranne.
Now based in Helsinki, Finland, Echoic has been running since 2013 and has released two full-length albums, Springbook (2013) and Coöccur (2018) as well as the 2020 single ”Contrary” featuring Tuuli Mustasydän. Echoic’s third studio album is in the works and slated for release in 2023 or 2024.
Otto Nuoranne is the only permanent member of Echoic, but the studio recordings have featured contributions from various fellow musicians, the records have been produced by skilled audio wizards, and live on stage Nuoranne is joined by a rotating cast of players that make Echoic an ever-changing puzzle.
Echoic’s music is rich, layered, melodic and harmonic alternative rock, branded by Nuoranne’s low, smooth vocals and abundant use of the cello, Nuoranne’s own instrument of classical training. The themes for the lyrics range from existential bliss to complexities of interpersonal relations, and the songs pair perfectly with watching a nice sunset on your commute from work or pondering the fate of our children.
I could write more, but it’s probably better if you go and listen for yourself before I spoil everything. Navigate to the Music page or click on the icon of your favourite music distribution service below to listen.
